GP donates $19K to Lawrence County schools

Georgia-Pacific Monticello recently announced a donation of $19,000 to the Lawrence County School District.

The contribution was made to support several education initiatives. It will provide ongoing support of the Technical and Career Center, early childhood literacy efforts, scholarships for high school seniors and other educational efforts at the district.

“The Lawrence County School District is very appreciative of the ongoing support we receive from Georgia-Pacific Monticello,” said Superintendent Titus Hines. “This year’s donation will help to support several school-based instructional and PBIS initiatives. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Georgia-Pacific.”

PBIS initiatives are Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, evidence-based tiered frameworks that focus on preventive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate behavior within the school setting.

“Georgia-Pacific Monticello is proud to support the Lawrence County School District,” GP Public Affairs Manager Luke Horton said. “Education is a priority for GP, and we know this investment into the school system will make a difference for both students and the community.”

GP Monticello is a containerboard facility employing approximately 400 employees.
